Tips For Planting Container Gardens To Enhance Your Lawn and Garden Furniture
By : Denisa Faustner
In my many different road trips, I have seen a wide variety of very unusual containers used for planting flowers and gardens to enhance the beauty of ones outdoor lawn and garden furniture. I have seen everything from beautiful Grecian urns to kitchen sinks. A container garden can be made from just about anything you have laying around the house that will hold soil.
Containers are ideal for growing flowers because they benefit from favorable conditions in regard to the soil, moisture, drainage and nutrients. Container gardens supply a lot of impact without much work. They are a great solution to complete you outdoor lawn and garden furniture setting because they can be placed anywhere that you need a punch of color and left there as long as you desire. They can be made in an array of colors, shapes, sizes and planting material. Use them as accessories to your outdoor lawn and garden furniture. The possibilities are endless.
When considering your container garden, the most important thing to do is make a plan. You should know if your container will be a shade loving container or one that will flourish in the days of full sun. When you have made that determination, start searching for your container. You may chose to use something you want to recycle or a container that you purchase at your local garden store. There is no right or wrong container. The choice is yours. The next step is choosing your plants. For a vibrant container, pick a variety of heights, colors and texture. Fill the bottom of the container with pebbles, stones, or broken terra cotta pot pieces (my favorite) for drainage. Fill the container about half full with a good quality potting soil. Remove the plants and flowers that youve selected from their packaging and place them in your container. It is best to place low growing plants around the edge and build in height to the center of the container. Once you have all of the plants in place, fill the container with potting soil. Water the container. Water the container 1 to 3 times per week depending upon your climate. Water the container weekly with a water soluble flowering plant food. Sit back in your outdoor lawn and garden furniture and watch it grow.
Whether you spend a little money or an extravagant amount to create your lush container garden let your imagination go wild. You will get such satisfaction when the work is completed and you are relaxing in your outdoor lawn and garden furniture among the containers that you created.
