We have made the decision to remodel our TINY kitchen. It is 10 x 10 ( could squeeze 1 more foot in if necessary). Does anyone know a good site or book that we can review before we go to a kitchen design store? To all with large kitchens, I envy you!!!

Go European! Go Modern!
Here's why:
1) Typically, American kitchen cabinets measure 45 cm, and are lined up in rows along walls. What we are seeing now with european manufacturers are cabinets measuring 60, 90, and 120 cm and up, which is important for a smaller kitchen for a number of reasoms. The longer widths allow for more flexibility in storage, since odd sized items can easily fit within, and the lack of individual cabinets creates more usable space.
2) Accesory systems - Unique accessories like built in backsplash rails that hold spices and other items - which are usually stored on the counter - frees up valuable countertop space while keeping necessary items at reach.
3) Getting off the wall - Adding cantilevered cabinets or freestanding cabinets can increase your kitchen's usable space. Custom designed cabinets will also help, as they are designed to fit within your space and minimize useless fillers.
4) Keeping it simple and organized - Many new innovations in storage solutions and inserts can help you to maximize space and cut down on clutter. When all that you need is at your fingertips, even a smaller space can seem larger when it is not cluttered.
