I tried cutting a small branch (4 inches) and put it in some miracle grow soil with a root stimulator solution but it died within 2 days. Any ideas on how to graft? Are you trying to "graft" or "root" ?

What you are trying to do is "root" them. Some will, some won't. Try bending a branch to the ground and covering a length with dirt for a year or so. Or wrap it with peat moss, wet it, wrap with plastic and tie the plastic in place and see what happens over multiple months.
